SmartTask has been named alongside University of Wolverhampton as the winner of the Best Use of Technology category at the European Cleaning and Hygiene Awards. The industry accolade was one of only two successes by UK entrants at a prestigious gala dinner in Rome, which celebrated best practice and high standards of excellence in the professional cleaning sector.

The joint initiative from SmartTask and the University of Wolverhampton was recognised for the development of an advanced employee scheduling and remote workforce management solution. Since being implemented across the University’s team of 25 cleaners, it has achieved an increase in jobs per day by a third, as well as helping better performance manage staff and improve employee accountability.

“This hugely-respected industry award is recognition for all the effort that has been put in to our employee scheduling and remote workforce management software,” explains Paul Ridden, CEO of SmartTask. “We have worked closely with University of Wolverhampton to deliver a solution that combines proof of attendance, performance reporting and electronic auditing, so they can gain added visibility and control over their cleaning operation at three main campus sites.”

Sandy Shaw, Campus Operations Manager, Estates and Facilities commented: “SmartTask is helping us take control of our remote teams, making sure they are operating safely in accordance with our precise operational requirements. As a result, we are delivering higher levels of compliant service by making the most of our FM teams, while streamlining administrative and management processes to target cost, time and resource efficiencies.”

The annual European Cleaning and Hygiene Awards were launched by the European Cleaning Journal and organised by EMG to celebrate the best service providers, manufacturers and distributors in sector. Now in its second year, the awards received more than 140 entries from across Europe, with the winners announced at the gala dinner at the Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel in Rome.
